Thank you

I know it's not Veterens Day yet, but this was so good, I wanted to make SURE to make the post for the upcoming day. I do not know that it is true--I never looked it up on Snopes. BUT it is a GREAT story

A lesson that should be taught in all schools . . And colleges (ESPECIALLY COLLEGES!)

Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock , did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom.

When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.

'Ms. Cothren, where're our desks?'

She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.'

They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.'

'No,' she said.

'Maybe it's our behavior.'

She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'

And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom.

By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms.Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.

The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.'

At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.

Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned..

Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.'

THANK YOU to all our Veterans that have served our GREAT COUNTRY FOR us.

Is she grabbing at straws trying to sue the state of Connecticut becuas ehse knows she wouldn't get enough from the owner? WTF?  I hope they throw the frikkin case out. I mean I am sorry she got mauled, but it wasn't the states fault. Own up to it lady--you helped the owner try to get it back into the house and obviously knew it was a HUGE animal. Bad decision from you--sorry charlie.

Yup--it's MINE--my NEW Camry that I bought tonight. This is a pic we took Sunday--a sneak preview if you may--when we went to see if we could find it on the back lot. We knew it had come in Friday. Now to sell the old car. Gee I wonder which one I wil drive to work tomorrow???  LOL

Had a great time this weekend at the racetrack. Had a 13 hour enduro race, so it was a LONG day and by the end my feet were SORE! Worked in pit road all day, but it was a blast!

RIDICULOUS

I watch America's Next Top Model and the last episode, Tyra had the models transformed via makeup & costumes for a photo shoot. Nothing wrong with this--they do it all the time--complete makeovers for photo shoots. Now I read this AM that there have been allegations of being RACIST. I mean come on folks! They are models and models portray different things all the time simply for a PHOTO SHOOT THEME. It was as far from racist as anything and I am appalled someone brought this up. I mean it was TYRA that did this. She's black--did SHE portray them as being racist?? I don't think so. The models are tested every week for photo shoots on how they photograph and their interpretations of the shoot. I believe they did a great job and it was not racist in the least. Racism in this world will only contniue if people don't stop bringing up the damned race card all the time. Give it a rest--I'm tired of hearing of it from ANY race group.

Disclaimer:

I am not saying they are not justified claims of racism--I am talking about the claims that come up just because one or the other is personally offended and just brings it up for the sake of stirring trouble.
